Skin cleanse
Your aesthetician removes all makeup and surface product from the skin before the treatment begins. The blade works on clean skin only.
The dermaplane treatment
Using a sterile surgical-grade blade held at a precise 45-degree angle, your aesthetician works across the full face in short feathering strokes, removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair. The sensation is a light, gentle scratch. Most clients find it relaxing.
Medical-grade serum application
A serum is applied immediately after the treatment, directly into the freshly cleared surface, able to absorb fully now that the dead-cell barrier has been removed.
Aftercare briefing
You leave knowing exactly which products to apply in the next 48 hours and which to avoid. Written aftercare is provided.
Walk out
Skin visibly smoother, brighter, and more even the same day. You can apply SPF and makeup immediately and go directly to whatever is next in your day.
Pre-care instructions: Please read before booking
- 14 days before No sun exposure, waxing, or hair removal creams in the treatment area. UV-exposed or freshly waxed skin is not suitable for dermaplaning.
- 14 days before No Botox or filler injections in the treatment area. Allow full settling time before your session.
- 3 days before Stop all vitamin A (retinol or retinoid), hydroquinone (HQ), and resurfacing or active exfoliant products. These thin the skin surface and must be paused before treatment.
Questions we get asked before a first session
No. The sensation is most often described as a light scratching or feathering, similar to drawing a credit card lightly across the skin. There is no heat, no acid, and no penetration below the outermost dead-cell layer. Most clients find the treatment relaxing. If you are particularly sensitive around certain areas, your aesthetician adjusts the pressure accordingly.
No. This is the most common misconception about the treatment. The vellus hair being removed does not have the follicle structure required to grow back coarser. Vellus hair is genetically fine and soft, and removing it at the surface does not alter the follicle. It grows back exactly as it was.
Express Dermaplane is suitable for the majority of skin types, including dry, combination, oily, and mature skin. It is not recommended during active acne breakouts, or on skin with active rosacea. If you are uncertain, contact us before booking and we will advise you directly.
Smoother texture and brighter, more even tone are immediate and last three to four weeks on average, until the skin's natural cell turnover deposits a new layer of dead cells. Most clients who come in once book monthly maintenance sessions.
Yes. You can apply SPF and full makeup immediately after the session. Many clients book the Express Dermaplane specifically before an event, because the result is visible the same day.
